| dc.description.abstract | Siguiendo las recomendaciones de la OMS “Active Aging”, el Instituto de la Mujer de
la Región de Murcia, en España (IMRM) desarrolla un programa educativo en gerontología específico
para la mujer. Mantiene un objetivo principal educativo buscando la anticipación al envejecimiento
patológico. Se recuerda que la gerontología en general y la gerontología médica en particular es la
disciplina que mejor se adapta a los conceptos de anticipación a la enfermedad, fragilidad y prevención
del envejecimiento patológico. Estudio descriptivo realizado desde el año 2003 hasta el 2008 sobre
una población de 1440 mujeres. Se ha completado el estudio con una metodología cualitativa a través
de la técnica de grupos de discusión (GD). Las expectativas de las alumnas se han visto cumplidas en
más de un 90%. Se han confirmado cambios positivos en hábitos y actitudes, y se definen 6 categorías:
aspectos sociodemográficos, visión externa e interna de la vejez, problemas en la vejez y modo de
afrontamiento, relaciones familiares, desarrollo sociocultural y educativo, de la mujer mayor, donde
predomina una visión de la vejez mediada por la capacidad funcional, estado físico y de salud o la

| dc.description.abstracten | Women’s Institute of Murcia Region (IMRM) Spain has been development a specific
educational program on gerontology named Living her Age: Woman, following recommendation of
World Health Organization (WHO):”Active Aging”. The objective of this project is to look for anticipating
pathologic aging. We have to remember that Gerontology in general and especially Medical Gerontology
are the best adapted disciplines on prevention of pathologic aging, fragility and illness. This descriptive
study was realized from 2003 until 2008 with 1440 women population. It has completed the study with
a qualitative methodology through the technique of group discussion (GD). The expectations of students have been fulfilled by more than 90%. They were confirmed positive changes in habits and attitudes,
and defined 6 categories: demographic aspects, external and internal vision of old age, problems in old
age and mode of coping, family relations, socio-cultural development and education, the older women,
which predominant vision of old age is mediated by functional capacity, physical health or cognitive
