Vécu des conjoints face au cancer de leur partenaire : Rôle de proche aidant principal, besoins psychosociaux et détresse émotionnelle
Résumé
Introduction. Cancer causes in patients cognitive, emotional and behavioral
reactions but what about their spouses? Aim. This study aims to describe,
among spouses in good physical health, the size of their nearest major role in
helping their emotional distress and psychosocial needs. Methodology.
Participants were recruited with the prior consent of the patient, in four
hospitals from Liege (Belgium). The assessments were administered:
sociodemographic data, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Caregiver
Reaction Assessment, Perception of Inequity, Psychosocial Needs Inventory.
Results. Thirty-seven spouses (23 men, 14 women) participated in this study.
The main scores show a positive self-esteem as a close primary caregiver and
a high level of anxiety. Predominant psychosocial needs concern especially
interactions with healthcare professionals, information and support.
