Calibration method of hybrid machining process in the green ceramic combining micro-milling and laser machining
Résumé
Contribution to "euspen’s 19th International Conference & Exhibition, Bilbao, ES, June 2019"
Abstract :
"The requirements for quality amelioration of engineered products are increasingly stringent, and specially when the miniaturization and difficult-to-machine materials are considered. The development of hybrid machining processes (HMPs) answers this problem.
Indeed, HMPs are variants of traditional manufacturing processes (TMPs) and non-traditional manufacturing processes (NTMPs) that are combinations of either one or more specific advanced machining processes. MACHCERAM Platform is composed of a micromilling process and a laser machining process used one by one (it is thus a sequential HMP). In order to couple the two processes, their references frames must theoretically be the same, which is not true and induces an offset when moving from one process to the other. This machine tool is devolopped to machine of advanced ceramics that is very complex due to its hardness. Nowadays, many solutions exist to improve the machinability. One of the solutions is the green machining which occurs in a production stage in which the material can also easily be machined. The green machining is usually used in the industry field because the environmental impact is lesser in ceramic machining.
The aims of this paper is to develop a calibration method of MACHCERAM Platform which is used to machine a green ceramic with the help of the non-contact technology due to weakness of the green body."
